Terra Cotta Perinatal Services
This has been a year.
Through another year of experience with clients, fine tuning systems, and learning how to do all of this with a four year old calling my name every twenty minutes or so, I turned to business coaching to teach me how to ask different questions. I began focusing on the wider lens. What is my business’s identity on personal, client, and cultural levels? Those questions let me to a new(ish) dream. A clearer vision of what I want for my private practice, how I hope to serve my clients and what I need to make clearer to the world about who I am and how I operate.
So Terra Cotta Perinatal Services was born! (birth pun intended) Many of you know the story of the clay pot tattoo on my wrist (newcomers, see: Be a clay pot blog post to read more of my ramblings.) I always knew that when I was ready for my business to grow to the next level that the new brand would include some sort of homage to this tattoo, and the concept of holding space for what matters. After all, as a birth doula I’m basically paid to be a clay pot.
I began chatting with some other doulas, considering the option of bringing someone else on to my team. Luckily for me, I met Amanda. With Amanda, I had no reservations that the continuity of care for our shared clients would be smooth. Her professional background in social work gives her a trauma informed approach that I deeply value, and since working together she has really shown up for clients and given me the confidence to take this next step as my fellow clay pot.
I am excited to get to continue supporting our clients as Terra Cotta Perinatal Services grows. For those of you that have asked, yes, I will continue to attend births, but at a lesser rate as Amanda steps into heading up our birth doula services! In the meantime, I am taking a half-step back, working to develop our educational offerings and client resources, continuing to teach classes and even receive more training, myself, to expand our perinatal mental health services.
I am deeply grateful to each and every one of you that has contributed to the growth and community that was Katmorris.co. And I am equally as grateful to all of you for supporting us as we grow into Terra Cotta Perinatal! I’m looking forward to continuing to build relationships with our fellow birth workers to create an even more robust system of support for our shared clients, and to all of our current and future clients, Amanda and I are so excited to be able to offer you the quality of care you have come to expect, with even more support options as you transition with your growing families.
To future growth, in our bellies and our businesses, and all the life that is held within,
With love,
Your doula,
Kat Morris
